About Us A Better Way Of Life (BWL) is a organization whose current mission is to provide support to children who have one or more parents incarcerated within the prison system. With the implementation of the “get tough” in crime laws enacted by our politicians, people convicted of crimes are, not only receiving more time that ever before, but are also serving longer sentences. The end result is that more and more children are being raised in single parent-or no parent-homes. A multitude of different organizations have been established throughout the years to assist the victims of crime; however, one segment of these victims has been totally neglected. Ironically, the children are the only segment of victims that are truly victimized in what is referred to as “victimless crimes”, with no help, aid, or assistance offered to them. It is B.W.L.'s goal to help ease the burden these innocent children are placed in by providing school supplies, mentoring programs, clothes, in-kind services, and other necessities. It is our hope to help break the cycle of crime, educate our children and bring happiness and love into their lives and homes. B.W.L. is a new organization, and we hope to someday expand the parameters of our mission. For starters we want to provide an interactive connection service between those who can and willing to assist, those in need of assistance.. We are compiling a data base where people who are in need of assistance can log on and post their contact information so that those who can assist will be able to contact them either personally, or through B.W.L.. Additionally, we are looking for sources who can donate supplies/services/items to B.W.L. so that we can provide services directly to those in need. For example, the two primary sections are: • Services/Items/Supplies- Requested • Services/Items/Supplies- Listing of items that B.W.L. needs to help fulfill routine requests. In section (1), a single parent whose spouse and /or relative are incarcareated may request school supplies or other necessities and either provide their address or an access code provided by B.W.L. (to protect their anonymity). Someone who is interested in helping could contact this individual directly and assist them. In section (2), B.W.L. will be posting a list of items that are needed. We are currently seeking assistance from companies, organizations or individuals in order to have supplies readily available for distribution. As a new organization, we are also seeking advice and suggestions to help make our dream and goals become realities. It is essential that we have adequate numbers of people and organizations to rely on to help us meet our goals. B.W.L. would like to sincerely thank all of those individuals and organizations who are willing to help bring a little sunshine into the lives of those children who were thrown into a situation beyond their control.
